Henryk Sienkiewicz's Mansion in Oblęgorek
Castles, palaces and Manor Houses
This estate was a gift for the Polish Nobel Prize winner, Henryk Sienkiewicz, from the grateful nation on the 25th anniversary of his literary career.
The mansion, designed by Hugon Kuder, was built as an extension to the already existing Mieczysław Halik’s pavillion and Tarło’s hunting house. Now it is a museum devoted to Sienkiewicz’s life and work, with an exhibition of the interiors. The beautiful park that surrounds the house was laid out by Franciszek Szamiora. It contains monumental oak, lime, plane, ash and many other rare species of trees and shrubs, such as, for example, the American tulip tree.
