The beginnings of Knyszyn date back to the 14th century, but its heyday was the reign of Sigismund II Augustus, when the royal manor house was located there. According to lore, the heart of the king was buried in the cellar of the local church. The monarch has also to do with the history of the Knyszyn Jews. Learn about it by visiting the Jewish cemetery, which survived on royal dikes.
