In May 1915, Józef Piłsudski's Legions fought a bloody battle here against Russian troops, which went down in history as the Battle of Konary. It is commemorated by a monument in the form of a granite boulder with a bronze plaque and a cross, erected by the community in 2000 to mark the 85th anniversary of the battle.
