Monastery At The Holy Cross
Sacral Monuments
The former Benedictine monastery with a history reaching back one thousand years, perched on top of the Łysiec Mountain (595 m asl) in the heart of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains.
The monastery enshrines the relics of the Holy Cross. The cloisters hold the exhibitions of the Museum of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (since 1936, residents of the monastery). From the tower of the Holy Trinity Church, rebuilt in 2014, a hundred years after its destruction, a vast panorama can be seen. The monastery also houses the Świętokrzyski National Park Nature Museum. From the observation deck over the stone run, one can see the unique quartzite rock rubble, a pagan wall dating from the 8th century, and a radio and TV tower, 157 metres high.
