The green trail in the Narol Municipality is one of six bike loops you can choose from in the area of this locality. This one is number 1 and it goes from Narol to the “Szumy nad Tanwią” reserve, mainly on paved roads and dirt roads. The route is 28 kilometres long and has a typically recreational character. It is moderately difficult, and along the way, you may encounter many interesting places. It is worth doing a few extra kilometres to see the sights located near the trail.
The general course of the trail is as follows: Narol, market square (0.0 km) - Rebizanty, “Szumy nad Tanwią” (10.8 km) - Ruda Różaniecka (12.5 km) - Huta Różaniecka (16.7 km) - Narol (27.4 km).
The trail is very pleasant and typically recreational. The signposting is excellent. There are several interesting places as well as numerous memorial stone crosses and monuments that can be seen along the way. Due to car traffic on part of the route, the trail is not recommended for families with small children. The route begins in Narol, in the market square. The Town Hall is close by, and a little further and off the trail, there are two other interesting buildings: an Orthodox church and the Łosiów Palace. You can visit them or leave that for another trip, but seeing them is a must. At the beginning, the trail goes on a paved road to the west, along the Tanew River, which in this area is narrow. Then it takes a gravel-covered firebreak, hidden in the thick forest. It’s a very pleasant stretch, particularly on hot summer days. The next step is a paved road along the Tanew River, ending at the road and the bridge on this river. It’s a good idea to go around 200 metres off the trail and walk around over the charming waterfalls on the river, and listen to the water murmur. This is the main attraction of the whole trip. Next, you are in for some arduous climbing up the paved road that goes between fields in the direction of Huta Różaniecka. This fragment of the trail is about 1 km long and its inclination is up to 10%. The culmination of that ascent will be the breath-taking views of Roztocze. Afterwards, the paved road goes down the hill, and you go downhill too, and fast. At the foot of the hill, it is worth pausing for a moment, in order to see the ruins of an old Orthodox church. At this point begins the village of Huta Różaniecka begins. Glassworks used to function here in the past, hence the Polish name (Huta – glassworks). Nearby, you will find many old quarries. The trail continues on a paved road with low traffic, but you have to be quite vigilant and watch out for cars which move much faster than allowed. The road leads to Ruda Różaniecka, a village surrounded by fish ponds. In the past, this was the site of open-cast mining workings where iron ore was being extracted and later smelted in small steel mills. The trail does not enter the village itself, but turns into the forest, heading east. You can extend the trip to include the centre of the locality, which has an old manor house and a park which once surrounded another manor house. The route then continues to Narol using a very pleasant, paved road through the forest. That road is off limits for car traffic and does not require too much effort on the cyclist’s part. Along the way, you will pass by the “Bukowy Las” reserve (“Beech Forest”), protecting a natural fragment of the Carpathian Forest. The trip concludes on the market square in Narol.
